Today was a great day to have some dessert and a nice hot latte. The weather couldn't make up it's mind, rainy...sunny...windy...rainy...sunny...chocolate chips falling from the sky..(Ok, maybe that last part was wishful thinking.)
Oh My Heavens....MOUTHGASM!!!! I reserve this word only for the yummiest of foods. My husband Tim and I shared the "cake of the month" which this month is "hummingbird cake" which was a fantastic banana-pineapple-coconut cake with cream cheese icing. And a "chocolate cloud" cookie which is just as it sounds. Don't forget the skim latte. (If you are going for cookies AND cake, one must go skim)
The "hummingbird" cake was somehow both light and rich at the same time. The texture was fluffy, but rich with flavor, and the icing was quite possibly the most moist cream cheese icing I have ever had.
The best way I can describe the "chocolate cloud" cookie is that it's almost like they spooned an extremely chocolatey brownie batter onto a cookie sheet and baked it as such. It had a great, almost flaky outside texture, which was a wonderful complement to airy, but still brownie like inside.
For a girl who doesn't like coffee all that much...I could have bathed in that latte.
The trademark of Baked is their antler emblem, which I found a little strange at first, but in the end, is very charming and I am thinking of ordering a warm sweatshirt.
YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!!! I am surprised that The Girl Who Ate Everything has not yet made it here. I am DEFINITELY going back.
I should mention, they sell their insanely good cupcakes at other various locals around Brooklyn.
Cloudy Cookie Anyone?
On another note, Tim and I made it to the 5th Ave Street Festival today, and although there were tons of vendors and lots of people, there was sadly, not much fooding to be had.
